Moscow. January 25, 2019. Over the past week the electricity consumption grew in the European Part of Russia and Ural and fell in Siberia. Since the start of 2019 and compared to the same period last year the accrued overall electricity consumption grew in both market price zones.
The average weekly indices of equilibrium prices compared to last week were lower in both market price zones. Since the start of 2019 and compared to the same period last year the average price indices were higher in both market price zones.
The total electricity consumption of the day-ahead market over the past week amounted to 21.13 million MWh. In the European Part of Russia and Ural the electricity consumption grew by 0.5% since last week and totaled 16.82 million MWh. The total electricity consumption in the European Part of Russia and Ural since the start of the year was 2.3% higher than that of the same period last year. The electricity consumption in Siberia fell by 3.4% since last week and totaled 4.31 million MWh. Compared to the same period last year, the electricity consumption in Siberia have grown by 1.6% since the start of the year.
The past week the thermal production share in the generation mix of the European Part of Russia and Ural grew by 0.3 percentage point compared to last week and did not change to the average figure since the start of the year 2019. In Siberia, the thermal production share fell by 1.5 percentage points compared to last week level and by 1.2 percentage points - since the start of the year 2019.
In the European Part of Russia and Ural thermal power plants accounted for 69.2% of electricity production, hydro and nuclear plants 5.8% and 24.9% respectively. In Siberia, the generation mix was as follows: thermal – 58.6%, hydro – 41.4%.
Since last week, the equilibrium price indices in the European Part of Russia and Ural fell by 0.1% and amounted to 1 319.2 rubles/MWh (the weighted average equilibrium price index since the start of the year grew by 6.9% compared to the same period last year). In Siberia, the index fell by 3.7% compared to last week’s figures and amounted to 1011.5 rubles/MWh (the weighted average equilibrium price index grew by 14.9% since the start of the year - compared to the same period last year).
As of January 21, 2019 the total debts of market participants have increased by 2.8 billion rubles since January 1, 2019 and amounted to 78.4 billion rubles. Debts in price zones amounted to 78.09 billion rubles, while debts in non-price zones totaled 0.27 billion rubles.
