Moscow January 17, 2020. Over the past week the electricity consumption grew in both market price zones. Since the start of 2020 and compared to the same period last year the accrued overall electricity consumption fell in both market price zones.
The average weekly indices of equilibrium prices compared to last week were higher in the European Part of Russia and Ural and lower in Siberia. Since the start of 2019 and compared to the same period last year the average price indices were lower in both market price zones.
The total electricity consumption of the day-ahead market over the past week amounted to 20.38 million MWh. In the European Part of Russia and Ural the electricity consumption fell by 4.1% since last week and totaled 16.08 million MWh. Compared to the same period last year, the total electricity consumption in the European Part of Russia and Ural fell by 3.2% the start of the year. The electricity consumption in Siberia has grown by 3.9% since last week and totaled 4.3 million MWh. Compared to the same period last year, the electricity consumption in Siberia fell by 5.1% since the start of the year.
The past week the thermal production share in the generation mix of the European Part of Russia and Ural fell by 0.6 percentage point compared to last week and by 0.3 percentage points to the average figure since the start of the year 2020. In Siberia, the thermal production share grew by 1.7 percentage points compared to last week level and grew by 0.9 percentage points - since the start of the year.
In the European Part of Russia and Ural thermal power plants accounted for 66.66% of electricity production, hydro, nuclear and renewable energy power plants – 7.37%, 25.9% and 0,07% respectively. In Siberia, the generation mix was as follows: thermal – 55.09%, hydro – 44.88%, renewables – 0,03%.
Since last week, the equilibrium price indices in the European Part of Russia and Ural grew by 2.5% and amounted to 1 257.9 rubles/MWh (the weighted average equilibrium price index since the start of the year fell by 2.7% compared to the same period last year). In Siberia the index fell by 1.8% compared to last week’s figures and amounted to 976.1 rubles/MWh (the weighted average equilibrium price index fell by 6.4% since the start of the year - compared to the same period last year).
As of January 14, 2020 the total debts of market participants amounted to 76.4 billion rubles. Debts in price zones amounted to 76.33 billion rubles, while debts in non-price zones totaled 0.02 billion rubles.
