Moscow. July 03, 2020. Over the last week, compared to the previous week, the planned electricity consumption increased in the European part of Russia and Ural and didn’t change in Siberia. Compared to the same period last year, the planned consumption from the beginning of 2020 decreased in both market price zones.
Compared to the previous week, the average weekly equilibrium price index was higher in the European part of Russia and Ural and lower in Siberia. The average equilibrium price indices since the beginning of 2020 have been lower than the indices for the same period last year in both market price zones.
The total planned electricity consumption on the day-ahead market over the past week amounted to 15.60 million MWh. In the European part of Russia and Ural the planned electricity consumption amounted to 12.30 million MWh, having grown by 1.4% to the previous week. The total volume of planned consumption in the European part of Russia and Ural since the beginning of the year compared to the same period last year decreased by 3.6%. In Siberia the planned electricity consumption did not change compared to the previous week and amounted to 3.30 million MWh. The total volume of planned consumption in Siberia since the beginning of the year compared to the same period last year decreased by 1.6%.
Over the past week, the share of thermal power plants in the structure of the planned output increased by 1.4 percentage points and decreased by 5.2 percentage points compared to the average value since the beginning of the year. In the structure of the planned output in Siberia, the share of thermal power plants decreased by 1.8 percentage points relative to the previous week and was 16.4
percentage points lower than the average value since the beginning of the year.
In the European part Russia and Ural, thermal power plants accounted for 57.13% of output, while hydropower plants, nuclear power plants and renewables accounted for 11.71%, 30.64% and 0.52% respectively. In Siberia, the structure of generation was formed as follows: TPP - 30,13 %, hydro - 69,60 %, VRE - 0,27 %.
Over the week, the equilibrium price index in the European part Russia and Ural increased by 5.7% and amounted to 1,242.4 rubles /MWh (the weighted average equilibrium price index over the period since the beginning of the year decreased by 10.6% as compared to the same period of the previous year). In Siberia, the index for the week decreased by 1.8% to 930.9 rubles /MWh (the weighted average equilibrium price index for the period since the beginning of the year decreased by 12.4% as compared to the same period of the previous year).
As of July 1, 2020, the total debt of market participants amounted to 69.791 billion RUB, of which the debt on price zones amounted to 69.772 billion RUB, on non-price zones - 0.018 billion RUB.
